Celebrating our King’s Award for Innovation!

4 October 2024

Earlier this year, Filtronic was proud to announce its prestigious recognition with the King’s Award for Enterprise, celebrating the company’s outstanding commercial success driven by innovation. This honour highlights Filtronic’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology and underscores its leadership in the industry.

Only around 60 of these awards recognising innovation were awarded this year. Filtronic’s recent achievements centre on the design and manufacture of its market leading power amplifiers, which has led to growth within the new space sector including high altitude pseudo satellites (HAPS) and low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites.

To celebrate winning the King’a Award, Filtronic welcomed His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham, Mrs Sue Snowdon, and her team into their manufacturing facility in Sedgefield on Friday 04/10/24.

The afternoon was filled with engaging activities, including tours of our production line, where guests had the chance to chat with Filtronic employees about our latest investments and innovations. Our commercial team showcased the Cerus Range of E-Band power amplifiers through product talks and live demos. The event was capped off with speeches from our CEO, Nat Edington, and His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant, who presented the King’s Award for Innovation.

The Filtronic team then got together for a relaxed autumn BBQ, enjoying good food and celebrating their recent accomplishments.

“We are incredibly honoured to receive the King’s Award for Enterprise, which is a testament to the hard work, innovation, and dedication of our entire team. This recognition reflects our commitment to pushing technological boundaries and driving commercial success, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together.” – Nat Edington, CEO of Filtronic.

Walter Magiera, Filtronic’s CCO, said: “This award is a testament to our dedication and innovation, showcasing our ability to deliver excellence in every aspect. Our hard work is paying off, and this achievement highlights our commitment to success.”

Filtronic currently also proudly hold a Queen’s Award for International Trade from 2020, one of only a few companies in the UK to hold both simultaneously.

His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Sue Snowdon, commented: “Filtronic’s development of advanced power amplifiers has not only positioned them as a leader in the space sector but has also contributed significantly to their continued growth. The King’s Award for Innovation is a testament to their remarkable achievements, and it’s a great pleasure to present this recognition to such a pioneering company. Their success is a shining example of the talent and innovation driving our local economy in County Durham.”
