Filtronic wins “Manufacturer of the Year” at the prestigious annual Elektra Awards

Filtronic, an award-winning designer and manufacturer of mmWave solutions for defence, telecoms and space won the “Manufacturer of the Year” at the annual Elektra Awards in association with Electronics Weekly. The award recognised the company’s investments in facilities, people, processes and ongoing market expansion.

During the year, Filtronic has made significant investments to expand the range of products and services on offer and made inroads into supporting the fast-growing LEO space market. Recent process developments include the installation of a new plastic encapsulation line to support future aerospace requirements, and the installation of a new fully automated wedge bonder line to support volume manufacturing of telecommunications products.

In addition, the company has invested in its Business Development and Engineering skills to respond to a significant flow of enquiries from the LEO communication market that is looking to adapt commercial telecommunication products for use in the space environment. This expansion has included considerable investments for the main manufacturing site at NETPark Sedgefield and a new engineering design office in Manchester.

The company continues to deliver best-practice process design and management, enabling it to achieve enhanced productivity from within its existing operating facilities. All these aspects impressed the judges in a highly competitive Manufacturer of the Year category. They were especially impressed with the continued market expansion into New Space, Quantum computing, and low-latency private networks.
